Taxes

Corporate taxes are too high.

US corporations pay more in taxes than any other country. Corporations that make a profit overseas are taxed if they bring that profit home. I would like to see the federal government eliminate taxes on profits that companies make overseas, and let corporations bring that money home to the U.S.

Recently, the Chamber of Commerce embraced this idea and is presently calling for an immediate moratorium on all overseas profits until a new tax code for corporations can be written. I support lowering taxes on corporations to approximately 20-25%.

I don't have a problem with lowering corporate taxes if, and only if, the million-and-one write-off, loopholes and other deductions are eliminated. There is no excuse for a large corporation to pay nothing, or practically nothing, in taxes. Exempting overseas profits would only encourage more outsourcing of American jobs. Not a good idea. Those taxes should be raised, if anything.
