Meet Chuck

Chuck Marino is running for the U.S. Senate for the state of Michigan to “Take your voice to Washington.” Chuck will be a voice of constitutional conservatism, limited government, and make sure the people of Michigan get their voices heard.

Although Chuck Marino has never been elected to office, he has spent his career in the business arena--creating jobs, meeting payrolls, balancing budgets, negotiating contracts, and mentoring future managers. Chuck wants to bring those skill sets to the U.S. Senate from the state of Michigan. For the past decade, our state has been under-represented or represented by self-serving/party-serving individuals which has left our state floundering. Chuck wants to take the voice of Michigan to Washington, DC, to truly and fully represent the people of Michigan.

Chuck is a leading advocate for tax reform, a staunch opponent of wasteful government spending and a strong proponent of adherence to the Constitution--as it was intended by the Founding Fathers. He believes Government has grown exponentially. In the past, politicians have supported companies who build product in Michigan, “Obamacare” is the most recent example of government’s uninhibited growth. Chuck wants the Government to make the same kind of serious spending decisions that many families and small businesses have been forced to make. Chuck is a champion of “free market” and believes in the vitality of family as the first unit of Government. He is also a defender of the “Right to Life” and devotedly stands for religious liberties.

Prior to his run for the U.S. Senate, Chuck established National Building Inspections (NBI). This company was set up to serve banks, insurance companies, and business owners nationally for property condition assessments, bank draws, and asset reviews. NBI services 49 states (all but Hawaii) and has franchises and/or inspectors under contract to provide services in each of those states. Chuck’s company won a “Pinnacle Plus” award for achievements in residential and relocation inspections. Chuck designed and developed protocols for commercial property assessments that have given his organization the distinction and recognition to be the first to develop a “due diligent” report based on ASTM Standards. This progress led Chuck to team with his competitors to establish “The Commercial Inspectors Association of America,” an organization that has a mandate to train and certify inspectors based on “Six Sigma” protocols. The Code of Ethics, and all procedures, training manuals, and testing was managed and developed by Chuck Marino and his staff.

Chuck also had a successful career as part of an executive management team for two international companies prior to his success with NBI. He joined a German company that had just located an office in Ohio to sell products in the automotive industry. Within the first two years he won the “Salesman of the Year” award, and he achieved first position spec recognition for his product in many of Michigan’s automotive plants. Chuck was asked to join a team of automotive engineers from competing companies to combine IEC (European Electrical Standards) to NFPA (American Electrical Standards) into one unified standard. This allowed automotive companies around the world to build assembly lines using one electrical standard and have uniformity for electrical wiring for power to the assembly lines. Chuck has a unique perspective when it comes to the growth and development of not only small businesses, but international businesses. He understands what it takes to grow a business and create new jobs. Shortly after Chuck was hired to this company, the owners announced a decision to close the subsidiary in Michigan. Chuck asked if he could develop a new business model, with the understanding to save not only the jobs, but also the subsidiary itself. He first re-negotiated the contract with the teamsters and got concessions. He then developed policy and procedures to redefine the warehouse and operations to assemble products for shipment. Within three months, Chuck increased the workforce by 25%, turned the business around and made it profitable. These are only a few of the successes that Chuck has had over his entrepreneur/business career.

With the job market at 9.2%, businesses leaving the United States for foreign countries, and overburdened taxes, Chuck will utilize his skill sets for negotiation to help develop influences for reducing business taxes and grow strategies to save our struggling small businesses. With the make-up of Congress to be heavier weighted with Attorneys -- 43 in the Senate and 145 in the Congress -- it is not surprising why Congress is turning out new regulations at an alarming rate. We need to elect a broader cross-section of professional Americans, including “Business Owners” and “Business Managers”. During 2010, Chuck attended many Tea Party events and Republican dinners. Like so many Tea Party constituents and Republicans, Chuck has a strong belief in lowering taxes to help the economy grow, refocus on the Constitution to return the country back to its moral founders’ vision, and a need to shrink the government’s involvement and regulations that have burdened our businesses.

Chuck is a graduate of Northville High School, and he attended Schoolcraft College, Washtenaw Community College, Eastern Michigan University, and The University of Michigan Business School. Chuck has been married to Carolyn for forty years ,and they live in Brighton where they own National Building Inspection (NBI). Chuck and his partners have seven locations and over fifty contractors across the United States. Chuck feels his greatest growth occurred when he joined the United State Marine Corp; he served from 1969-1973 during the Vietnam Era. He was not only an infantry soldier, but also a warehouse manager. The Marine Corp. taught him about loyalty, dedication, and a desire for success. Chuck is passionate about his country’s military, and believes that when you send our forces into harm’s way, the country should be committed to two things: fully funding the troops and leaving politics out of strategies by relying on the top officers responsible for executing the war.

Chuck and Carolyn have five children and ten grandchildren who have inspired him to be passionate about stopping the overspending of this administration, which is now projected to cost each of his grandchildren $41,000.00.
